Hello! Like some of you, I am sad the From Land to Sea Stamp Set is retiring. I find it hard to make masculine type cards and this one would come in handy, as I felt it lended itself more toward masculine for me. Anywho, I decided to ink it up today, and here is what I came up with.
Although I like the critters in the stamp set, the turtle fella is my favorite. My bestie, Mary Cook and I got together Easter Sunday afternoon to create some cards, and this is how my card ended up looking. A little different than hers, and we both used the stamps stamps and colors. Funny how that happens, right?
I decided to use Watercolor Paper for this fella, so I inked him up with our Black Archival Ink, then using my Aquapainter, I color him his shell with a bit of Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink, and some Crumb Cake Classic Ink. His body is colored with Crumb Cake Classic Ink. I stamped him on the Whisper White piece, then fussy cut him out from the Watercolor Paper and popped him up with some Stampin' Dimensionals.
Here are the card details:
Night of Navy Cardstock - 8-1/4" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
Old Olive Cardstock - 5-3/8" x 4-1/8"
Whisper White Cardstock - 4" x 5-1/4"
Watercolor Paper - 2-1/2" x 2-1/2"
I cut and scored the Night of Navy cardstock, adhered the Old Olive layer with Fast Fuse and set the card base aside. I inked the turtle from the "From Land to Sea Stamp Set", with Archival Black Ink, and stamped him on the Watercolor Paper. I heat set the ink with my heat tool, because I was ready to roll and didn't want to wait (instant gratification is "sometimes good"), then proceeded to color the fella in, using Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink and Crumb Cake Classic Ink for the shell. Old Olive Classic Ink for the skin. I fussy cut the turtle, added some Fine-Tip Glue to the turtles shell only, and set him aside to dry, while I worked on the ocean scene.
I stamped the Watercolor Wash Stamp Set onto my Whisper White Cardstock using Soft Sky Classic Ink. I was going for something simpler than what I ended up doing here. I inked up the By The Tide Stamp Set (the piece that creates those fabulous waves in the ocean), with Marina Mist to create my horizon. Using one of our Stampin' Sponges (which I had cut into quarters), I inked up some Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink and just began sponging in the water. I really meant for it to be a lot lighter, but I got to talking, and just inking, and inking and this is what it ended up looking like. I next inked up the cute sun using Daffodil Delight Classic Ink "after" stamping off once. Next came the birds in Crumb Cake.
I adhered my Whisper White panel to the Old Olive layer. I stamped the turtle where I wanted him again, right onto the Whisper White Cardstock. I added my dimensionalized turtle (that's a Stampin' word, lol), right over where I had stamped it previously. I didn't add a sentiment because I like to keep my options open..... :-)
Thank you so very much for stopping by, as I know we are all very busy, and appreciate you taking the time. Hope you'll visit me soon.
"Blessings, and until the next time, remember to hug the ones you love, "none of us are promised tomorrow!
